OUR FOUNDER

Sara’s story begins in the mystical far-away land of Bulgaria—also known as, “the land of roses,” where potent herbs, resilient flowers, and mythical forest creatures inhabit its verdant mountains. From a very early age, this inspirational place infused Sara with a deep passion for all that is magical in the natural world. She has always been happiest tucked away in nature among the fairies and nymphs—and as destiny would have it, her curiosity of the secret powers of botanicals eventually led her into the realm of science-based plant-powered skincare.

For years, Sara suffered from hypersensitive, reactive skin. She searched for skincare that was gentle yet potent—a product that wouldn’t agitate her skin and would deliver visible results—she found it impossible to find. In a mission to heal her skin, she set out to look for ways to make her skin more calm and resilient. While working on a skincare project within her family company, Sara discovered the Orpheus resurrection flower along with a scientific data sheet on the flower’s proven benefits. She instantly fell in love with the romantic legend, beauty, and magical abilities of the resurrection flower and became inspired to bring the flower’s rejuvenating powers to the world through skincare. Coming from a family with 20+ years of experience in the personal care industry, she was able to turn her dream into reality.

This brought her to meet professor Djilianov from the Biotechnology university of Bulgaria, an expert on the Orpheus flower with 22 years of research and work on the flower —he quickly became an integral part of the Orpheus scientific advisory board. They linked up with the world’s most renowned plant stem cell laboratory were they used biotechnology to sustainably produce the high-efficacy skincare and after three years of challenges (due to the flower’s biochemistry being unlike anything the scientists had ever seen before) and three additional years of solely working on the complex, the passionate team finally succeeded. By creating potent and clinically effective skincare, Sara was able to heal her skin.

Sara is an artist with a degree in art and design from Parsons & Central Saint Martins; the beautiful, lux, and modern packaging is a reflection of Sara’s personal aesthetic. With a love for learning from other cultures, Sara studied and lived in Switzerland, Paris, London, Asia, and New York City—but she never lost sight of her roots. Orpheus was founded not only as a passion project to heal her skin but also as an effort to preserve and promote Bulgaria’s biodiversity.
